The Galaxy Note 20 could ditch the curved display

Well-known Samsung insider IceUniverse has said that Samsung might ditch the edge-to-edge curved screen in favour of a flatter display this time on the Galaxy Note 20. And although this is not 100 percent confirmed, it actually doesn’t come as a surprise as we saw Samsung move away from these curved displays for the very first time this year with the S20 series Months back, we had reported that Galaxy Note 20 will be a Samsung smartphone with the most curved screen yet. However, things have taken a turn since then. Although, there are rumours that Samsung might follow last year’s trend of having an Ultra/Plus variant of the Note 20.

Being a higher-end variant, this could very well sport the waterfall display but we are yet to have an official confirmation on this. Few rumours also point that the Note 20 would have a 6.42-inch display with a resolution of 2345×1084 pixels while the Plus variant will sport a 6.87-inch 3096 x 1444 screen with 497 pixels per inch.Prior to this, the renders of the supposedly Note 20 gave us a good look at the devices which reminded us more of the Galaxy S20 Ultra. Those CAD renders, which are rarely wrong, did show a curved display. If we recall, Samsung kicked off the curved display era with the Galaxy Round back in 2013. It had an unconventionally inward curved screen for that time. Since then, the company has been perfecting the curved display technology and right after Note 5, it has made the displays mainstream on their flagship devices. Nevertheless, it’s interesting to see Samsung opting to go back in time to bring back the flatter display for the Note series of devices, though we need to wait for more info going forward. At the moment, reports point to August 5 for the launch of the Note 20 as well as the new Galaxy Fold 2.
